Green iguana range
UF/IFAS places the native green iguana range from central Mexico south through Central America to Paraguay and Brazil, plus some Caribbean islands.
Habitat is more than a map
Within that range, green iguanas occupy rainforest, dry forest and savanna and are strongly associated with permanent water. Trees provide climbing, basking and sleeping opportunities.
Island specialists
Other iguanas can have far narrower distributions. Marine iguanas are endemic to the Galápagos, while several rock iguanas are tied to individual Caribbean islands.
Introduced populations
Green iguanas have also established populations outside their native range, including Florida. Introduced range should be clearly distinguished from native range.

Iguana facts become more useful when anatomy, behavior, species and habitat are connected instead of treated as isolated trivia.
